A capacity increase is scheduled for Lanka Walltiles PLC (Walltiles) in 2027 targeting the manufacture of larger format tiles, given the higher demand and margins for such products locally and internationally.
“We want to capitalise on this as there’s a big demand for larger tiles,” a LWL official said. Parquet, the tile grout and mortar segment and aluminium products at LWL, witnessed strong demand and growth coinciding with the growth in the construction market during the past quarter, he said adding that Swisstek Aluminum, LWL’s subsidiary has increased its market share to 35 per cent in FY 2016.
The company also wants to expand into related businesses, he said. “We want to add another production line and expand into related businesses.” The reintroduction of wooden flooring under the Swissparkett brand would place the manufacturer and exporter of wall tiles on a stronger platform, leaving little room for competition, analysts said.
